How frustrations can set you free

Image
Is frustration really a part of life? In my 50+ years on earth, I've been into a lot of experiences where I cried, became angry because of frustration. The choices we made or things we did sometimes lead us to feel frustrated. The things that we wanted to do but in one way or another is not being addressed or fulfilled can leave us with sentiments and frustrations. How are we affected by it? It can make a huge impact on us, it can either make or break a person. It can also be a catalyst to success or failure. It can drive a person to face fear and do what has to be done to resolve the issue. And when this happens, whatever the answer maybe, the important thing is the person did try to do something. Work is important to me so every now and then even if I am not that physically fit to work, I tried my best to be present to avoid conflict. Two days ago, that was what I exactly did. I decided to go to work even if I wasn't feeling very well due to lack of sleep the n

Random thoughts and me

A writer's block? Did it happen to me? Am I a writer in the first place? Ha ha.. I haven't been writing for I guess more than 5 months now. I just stopped writing. I didn't have inspiration or should I say procrastination won over my motivation. So I decided to write again, and just write anything. I have a lot of things in my mind I want to write about,  my daughter for example. She just turned 15 last September 30. Both of my children were born at the same date. My son Justin was born 10 years before her. My daughter Isabel! Isn't she beautiful? Isabel is kind, funny and loving. But now that she's on her puberty, I kinda have difficulty dealing with her. She can easily hurts my feelings when she's not very nice to me, for example when I have to ask her something or I have to tell her to maintain the cleanliness in her room and she will just kinda ignore me or will tell me to get out of her room. That really hurts and because I care for h

Are you truly really happy?

Image
Happiness? What connotes this word? How do we define it? Do we just define it literally or does it have a deeper meaning? The Wikipedia has this to say about it. To quote “ Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy”. Well being?  From what? Physically, emotionally, mentally, psychologically, spiritually and financially? If we are in the state of being well in all these aspects, Are we going to be truly really happy?  To some people happiness is simple. They count their blessings, even how little they have, like a bit of food, a small house, a meager salary, a simple life, they are contented and just the thought of having to be alive and breathing is happiness to them. But is that all? Are they truly really happy with just that? I wonder…  To others it means a lot of things. Money , fame, cars, big houses, travels, business and anything that money can buy is happiness to

What happened in the past few days

I realized I haven't been very inspired to write. My last post "How the power of words can impact our life" was almost a month ago. There were attempts to write but I just can't get myself to finish what I have started. It was like the words were nowhere, I was struggling. Am I beset with what the writers call "the writer's block"? I guess so. The Wikipedia defined it as a condition, primarily associated with typing, in which an author loses the ability to produce new work. The condition ranges from difficulty in coming up with original ideas to more extreme examples in which some " blocked " writers have been unable to work for years, and some have even abandoned their supposed lifelong careers. If experienced writers can have it, then it wasn't that bad and I haven't been writing that long yet so maybe it's just understandable to experience this situation.Am I excusing myself? :) So I thought I should just write free ,

How the power of words can impact our life

Image
Words are what comes out the moment our mouth opens to say something. Something can be a lot of things. It can be positive, kind and thoughtful. It can be the opposite, negative, unkind and hurtful. Words whether good or bad always make an impact from the deliverer to the receiver. It can induce different kinds of emotions such as happiness or sadness. It can send one laughing, crying or shouting. It can make a person calm or angry. It can destroy one’s dream.  It can make a big impact on the person's life.   Words after being said cannot be retrieved anymore. It is like time that cannot be taken aback.  And that’s why we were taught that we have to be very careful with what we say. Although if words are being said badly, a person can take it back by saying sorry but the damage has been done, sometimes it still leaves a mark in the person’s heart. Each of us is unique. There are people who always say something good and positive. But there are also people who

How nature can help us relax

Image
Imagine a very nice weather in the winter, where the sun shines and the wind blows just enough to balance the heat and the cold. Would you rather be inside the house or outside? Would you let that day pass by without  experiencing the beauty of nature? I bet you will choose the latter, just like what I and my husband did last Sunday, March 9, 2014. The temperature reached about 20°C, great weather to be outside, walking, cycling, running and capturing the memories behind it. My plan was to just stay home after working a short morning shift. I was having second thoughts whether to go with my husband to visit my mother in law and our plan was to cycle going there. I even asked him "Should I go or not?" which I always do whenever I doubt about something and I already knew the answer I will hear from him. And as always he said..."It's up to you" :) In the long run, I decided not to go. I said to myself I will just take that opportunity to write

Lila's snapshots

Meet my granddaughter Lila In celebration of my first grandchild Lila Eviana's birthday today, I made a video of some of her photos taken via Skype when we "talk" to her and personally captured when we had our summer vacation in July 2013. It's a beautifu l video of some of the things she did and some of those "firsts" between us. She is an adorable baby and growing to be a beautiful young child. I love her very much, she makes my day complete even if it's only through Skype that we got to see and talk to her.  Nowadays, she's already doing some funny tactics that really sent me laughing. I think she's going to be a natural joker when she grow up. Enjoy Lila's video of beautiful photos.

My granddaughter Lila turns 1

Lila Eviana is the name given by my son Justin and her mother Rosalyn to her. They wanted to name her Eviana Rafaelli but I asked them to attached my mother's nickname Lila and how obedient of them, they didn't disappoint me. They love the idea  especially my son since he was somehow raised by his grandmother when he was young so to honor my mother they were just happy to do that. Lila as we fondly called her since she was born on February 9. 2013 at 8:21 pm was a tiny little baby.  She weighed only 2.5 kg. Her face was just as big as my son's fist according to him but she was "alive and kicking". It was a big relief to me, my husband Ton and my daughter Isabel because I can only monitor her through phone calls.  I was very happy she was delivered safe through normal delivery. We thanked God for that. Today she turns1 and besides the money that we sent her to celebrate her birthday, I made a special letter for her through the video below. It talked a

How to make a crispy fried chicken a la Arline

Day 9 of my writing challenge - Teach Something Do you want to learn how to cook a delicious, juicy and crispy fried chicken in just 4 to 5 minutes? This of course does not include the preparation, only how long it takes to cook it to come up with this. Who would not like that right? And Who doesn’t like a yummy, juicy, crispy fried chicken?  As far as I know most of us love eating it. I love it, my children love it, my family and friends who tasted it said it was the most delicious fried chicken they've ever eaten. We all have different ways how to cook a delicious crispy fried chicken. It’s either following a recipe from a cookbook, a Youtube video or experimenting and improvising based on different recipes out there. I’ve been experimenting on it for a while now and the end product is always a success.  Just like every chef or cook who claims their fried chicken are the best, I would like to say it too  Mine is the most delicious, juiciest crispy f
